Kanye West’s ‘Donda’ Review Is Less Pitchfork Than ‘Peppa Pig’ Album

An album by underage British piglet Peppa Pig has earned a higher score from the indie rock creator Pitchfork than from Kanye West. Donda.

The much-anticipated album from the rapper, which was delayed three times this summer, was finally released on Sunday after much fanfare.

Named after West’s late mother, the album’s release was accompanied by three listening events, each larger than the last. The finale took place at Soldier Stadium in Chicago with a performance that saw the rapper burn a replica of his childhood home as he went up in flames with it.

West is no stranger to controversy and isn’t afraid to support controversial figures (most notably Donald Trump) but his inclusion of the disgraced Marilyn Manson in Donda served to create disinterest and frustration rather than shock and horror.

Pitchfork gave Donda a score of 6.0 out of 10 describing the project as “unfinished and with a lot of baggage left” and as “a database of songs seeking higher calling.”

Meanwhile, a parody Twitter account called IsItBetterThanPeppaPig pointed out that Donda scored lower on Pitchfork than Peppa’s Adventures: Album.

The famous pig’s second album topped the article on the West with a score of 6.5.

While the parody account jokingly compared other albums to the 6.5 score earned from providing the cartoon’s music, it also highlighted Dondadisappointing reception.

Donda is getting more mid lane reviews and has scored a total of 51 on Metacritic.

NME gave it three stars, stating that the album was “merely a hit with brilliant moments.”

While LA time called the “distributed, exhausting” project.

New York Times says that “the multidisciplinary scene is more of his goal than music now, and he’s not the star of his own 10th album.”

West has stated that his record label released the album without his approval on Sunday.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, just hours after Donda was released around 8 a.m., West wrote: “MY UNIVERSAL PUT ALBUM OUT WITHOUT MY Browsing AND THEY CHOOSE JAIL 2 FROM THE ABOVE. ALBUM.”

The song “Jail Pt 2” was later released.
